The ladies sing four part harmony -- a cappella style – the lead sings the melody line, the tenor sings above the lead line, the bass sings below the lead line, and it is always said that the baritone sings all the notes that are left over – the ones no other part wants.
Sea Belles take part in two competitions a year:
The first is in June which is their Area Competition – this includes Choruses from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. In November they attend an International Competition which can be held anywhere in North America. Sea Belles have travelled as far away as Indianapolis. In order to be eligible to compete on the International level the Chorus has to attain a certain number of points in their score at their Area Competition, and luckily Sea Belles have always done this.
